Nostalgia

What do you get when you take some outgrown onesies...

and add in a few well used burp cloths and pajamas...

and finally, the shirt Daddy wore on delivery day?

A beautiful, personalized, one of a kind blanket.

It's still a work in progress. i've got to add a navy border around the front, then back it with a navy minky fabric (that both Hancock's and Joann's were out of last weekend. Grr...).

I love making these blankets for friends and my two boys. I stuck with clothes they wore their first year of life. Anything beyond that, and the blanket would have fit a king size bed!

Love the blanket, and love the little boy that wore all those clothes!

Aprons for Little Ones

I've finished several more Children's Aprons over the past few days. I've also started a "Stag Designs" Facebook page, so hopefully someday soon, someone will read all this silliness that I write about.

Once again, I had a little helper on my photo shoot.

I'm not sure how he seems to always end up outside in just his socks. Hmmmm....

If you see one your interested in, please send me an email!

Obsessed

I look at a lot of sewing blogs, and it's funny how people really get into a certain fabric or color. Several of the ladies I read love vintage bedsheets, that they turn into amazing purses and other cute things.

I think I am quickly becoming obsessed with dishtowels. On a recent expedition, I bought these:

Some also came with solid colored towels, which I'll use with my full size aprons. But for these beauties, I can't wait to turn them into hostess aprons.

My main challenge has been finding cute towels that don't have a vertical print. I had to pass up a ton of cute and trendy towels, but I think I've got enough to keep me busy for a while!

Aprons for EVERYONE!

So a few days ago, I mentioned I had something in the works, and left you with this picture:

Well, after a bit of ironing, they looked like this:

And last night, they were attached to this:

The perfect apron for your little chef. Or, a child who loves to pretend!

I've got close to 20 different aprons cut out and sewn. Just got to get all those straps added!

Gotta get working on the rest of them tonight!

APRONS GALORE

So as I've mentioned before, I've been busy. My friend Mandy and I are going to a craft show in November, so I've been frantically making aprons...and hoping someone will want to buy them! Here are a few examples of what I've been working on:

I had a little helper on my photo shoot...

A full apron not your style? Try a half apron!

I had planned to take some shots of Henry modeling a few of the children's aprons I've been working on, but they weren't ready in time. The one he's wearing is for older kids, so it's a little big on him. But still cute! Hopefully by next weekend I'll get some more "manly" aprons done, so he can show one off!

I think the aprons look much better in person. My photography and styling skills are still in the works! Here's a few photos of the aprons on....

Look at the cute apron...not my rear end! I've been sitting at my sewing machine way too much lately...

Total Failure...and a little success!

It's not often that I totally ruin something in the kitchen. But my first attempt at Pumpkin Scones was a total failure. First, I didn't have eggs. So I had to stop everything and go BACK to the store (that I had just come from) to get eggs. So maybe that's why they didn't turn out. Sure...that's it. So instead of yummy scones, we got this:

But all was not lost! Those went in the trash, but then Henry and I made a batch of Pumpkin Cookies. And they were FABULOUS!

I've also got some sewing projects that are about to be complete. Here's a hint:

State Fair and T-shirts

We took the boys to the State Fair Sunday, and it's safe to say they love it! Henry and Sam both loved feeding and petting the animals.

Sam loved the goats, and squealed with delight any time they came close.

Aside from the fair, I finished a t-shirt blanket I was working on for a friend. It turned out well, and I was so glad it was a small blanket. The last few I've made had 35 shirts, which is a BIG blanket! This one was short and sweet!

I don't know why that picture is sideways...the original is vertical...oh well. The joys of learning how to blog!

I've got a ton of aprons in the works...more on those soon!

Weekend Fun

After a lot of great feedback about my towel/apron design, I've decided to try to sell them. I friend is hooking me up with a local craft show in Novemeber, so I'm going to see how it goes. So because I'm so excited, I spent a lot of my free time (otherwise known as naptime) working on more aprons.

I love all the fall fabric at Joann's!

We'll see how this goes! I've been sewing for years, occassionally making a t-shirt blanket or baby clothes blanket for friends. I would love to create an actual business! Mama needs to buy diapers! :)

When my two boys were awake, we spent a lot of time outside this weekend. Fall arrived in Texas, and it was WONDERFUL! No more 100+ degree weather! Henry and Sam LOVED playing in the backyard with bubbles.

Although Sam was more interested in eating the bubbles.

Overall, it was a great weekend!!

Good-bye!
